Can someone help me edit it plz?!?!?
Phosphoric Acid in Soda Did you know that the average American drinks about two cups of soda a day? It’s true! — this beverage made from purified water, flavored syrup, carbon dioxide, flavorings, sugar, caffeine, and acidulants (acids) is one of the most popular beverages among Americans. However, soda is not necessarily beneficial for you. Soda is the number one source of phosphorus in American’s diets today, which is a very big health problem. Sodas contain phosphoric acid which can cause tooth enamel erosion. Although phosphoric acid can be dangerous for your teeth, it can be devastating to your health. Phosphoric acid in soda has been found to contain arsenic and to have a Ph level close to that of battery acid. After phosphoric acid is consumed, it raises the level of phosphorus in the body and lowers the level of calcium; thus causing your body to draw calcium from your bones which can later lead to osteoporosis. The phosphoric acid in soda not only causes calcium deficiency, but can also corrode stomach linings, upset the alkaline-acid balance of your kidneys, and deteriorate your liver. Many people turn to diet sodas thinking they will be a healthier alternative to regular soda. Although the diet sodas might contain less sugar, they contain the same amounts of phosphoric acid; therefore, diet soda is not completely healthy to drink either. Soft drinks in general do not hold any nutritional value for you anyway. Many of the ingredients in soda have proven to be harmful and not helpful. The acids can cause erosion in teeth and deficiencies in calcium. The sugar alone can cause you to have a higher risk of obesity. Even some of the flavorings (aspartame) can cause brain tumors if taken in large doses. Overall, soft drinks are not beneficial to humans in anyway, but they can be enjoyed in moderation from time to time. The acidity levels of soda can be tested using a simple Ph test. The erosive properties of soda can be tested by allowing soda to erode away at a tooth for a period of time. The concept could be measure by the length of time it takes for the tooth to completely erode away. The corrosive properties of soda could be tested by observing the amount of time it takes for the soda to completely corrode different metals. You could measure this concept by checking the weight of the metals every day to see how their mass decreases over time, until, finally, the metals are completely gone. Thanks in advance!! It's for a science experiment and this is my background paper. Opinions and criticism much appreciated as well :) moreResolved Question: ***Splenda and Diet Soda dangers.... ?
I have heard that Splenda is dangerous because of it's chlorine makeup and lack of human studies of the effects. My mother is overweight and seems to think everything she eats should be sugar-free with a Splenda alternative. Is this bad for her? What argument could I use to get her to understand? Also, diet soda are just as dangerous because they cause weight gain. Do diet soda's such as diet coke contain the chemical aspartame which is really bad for you? Is it true that the make up of diet sodas can cause the early onset of Alzheimer's? I need another argument for my mother for her to think twice about diet drinks as well. moreResolved Question: does this chewong gum cause cavities?

I was just wondering how safe this product really is given that Aspartame is known to be cancerous or cancer causing over time. I'm a 15 year old male, weight 139 and am about 5 foot 4. My BMI is 23.9. (Normal weight is 18.5-24.9, and I'd like to get my BMI down to at least 21.x. How can I do this? I really want to lose some weight but I'm not really willing to change my eating habits. They aren't really that bad, I don't eat an ungodly amount of food, nor do I eat foods that are really fattening, But I do eat fast food around 3 times a week, because I don't always have time for a sit down meal. I do drink around 4 cans of pop a day. I volunteer at the local dog shelter walking dogs about 3 times a week, walking dogs for about 1 and a half hours. I'm not into sports, so they're out of the question. (I do like to swim though) If I ran with the dogs instead of walking, would this help much? What else can I do to lose at least 3 pounds a month? (Without changing my eating habits) Note: Please don't suggest anything about diet sodas etc, because diet pop is TERRIBLE for your body! I'm writing a paper for my one of my professors about the affects of Aspartame. I do need links or websites on where you got the information, Thanks to all of you who can help me, Joe moreResolved Question: What is the scientific deal with Aspartame?
Some people 'claim' it is bad for you, others think it has been tested thoroughly, yet others still think it is a huge conspiracy between the government and soda companies. So what is the deal with aspartame, is there any REAL scientific evidence for its harmful effects? There are some sites out there that are dedicated to bringing down aspartame but they can not seem to provide any real scientifically controlled experiments to prove anything. It's just a bunch of people who "think" for 100% certain that aspartame is causing them all their problems. I don't want to hear anything about individual cases of people's ailments and how they 'think' it is caused by aspartame. I mean look at those medical bracelets that have not been proven to do anything but sit there on your arm. And look at what the placebo effect can do for people if they think a drug is going to help them. So just to reiterate, can anyone provide any scientific evidence or links to such evidence proving that aspartame is indeed bad for your health? moreResolved Question: Autism and artificial sweeteners?
I'm the mother of two autistic children, ages 5 and 6. There is absolutely no family history of this disorder, so the fact that I have 2 kids with autism was really quite shocking. I've attempted to examine the possible causes or contributing factors, other than genetics, that may have lead to their autism. I am healthy, young, and have never smoked, used drugs, or drank alcohol. Looking back, though, I remember that I did consume moderate amounts of artificial sweeteners, such as aspartame (Nutrasweet) and Sucralose (Splenda) throughout both pregnancies, and while breastfeeding. Although the manufacturers claim that both substances are safe for pregnant and nursing mothers, I was wondering whether anyone else has noticed a possible link between artificial sweetener consumption in pregnancy and/or breastfeeding and autism. Are there any mothers out there who consumed these sweeteners and have autistic children? Or, on the contrary, are you a mother of an autistic child who followed a completely natural, additive-free diet while pregnant/nursing? moreResolved Question: Does Brisk Iced Tea (specifically raspberry flavor) have aspartame or real sugar in it? ?

I have been having an allergic reaction off and on for about a month. I had started then stopped these products when I learned it could cause allergies eating egg beaters, using salicylic acid on skin, eating fresh fruit, etc. We do have mold in our home, now I wonder about this being an irritant. Initially stopping these things helped but now its back again. I thought taking bactrim had started the reaction about two weeks ago, I stopped taking it, and these symptoms went away for days, about 4 days later it came back so I wonder was I allergic? I will stop eating or using a medicine and things seem to get better, then around 2 days later this itch and lump in throat will come back even though I no longer use what I thought might have caused the problem. I went to the doctor, he thinks possibly it's something I'm eating or using, such as shampoo, skin care, etc. as I changed my diet drastically and used some new products in last 30 days. I reviewed medicines I take with him that I've taken for years, he said anything was possible but doesn't think it's the meds. The itch was only on my arms, belly, back and hands, occasionally a small part of my lip would swell, this itch (huge spots) was never below my waist. I change to dye/perfume free laundry detergent, this helps it seems, but now makes no difference. The last 3 days I have been eating what I normally have and things are better, but this is how this reaction has been going for quite some time, it happens badly at night (sometimes morning) and about every 2-3 days. I no longer itch but have a lump in my throat. I have taken benadryl every night recently thinking to avoid the symptoms of itching. He gave me hydroxyzine which I'm afraid to take after reading how it affects you and I wonder if I'm being silly. I guess I am curious to whether anyone else has had this problem. I have some allergies, latex, penicllin, aspartame, benzol peroxide. Some of the things I've thought like egg beaters was responsible, however I have always eaten regular eggs with no problems and occasionally used salicylic acid. Has anyone ever developed a reaction to medicine they have taken for 10 years or longer? Most my meds I have taken this long, some longer. The doctor said anything was possible to investigate it on my own. I've heard many different theories on this and I want an answer. I drink mostly Diet sodas because obviously anything packed with High Fructose Corn Syrup (or Sugar) is bad for you because the sugar becomes stored as fat to be used as energy later. Therefore, I have removed any non-Diet sodas from my diet (i.e. Coke, Pepsi, etc.) HOWEVER, I have recently be hearing theories that Diet sodas are also bad for you because the Aspartame/Sucralose (artificial sweeteners) are un-natural toxins that your body can have trouble digesting, therefore screwing up your metabolism (in other words, your body thinks it's drinking a sugar-loaded beverage, when in actuality, there is nothing there to metabolize). Furthermore, I've heard that these artificial sweeteners can cause different types of cancers. Obviously, the best choice would be to stop drinking sodas all together, but sometimes there isn't a choice, and I'm forced to choose a soda. So what's worse: Coke or Diet Coke? moreResolved Question: aspartame??????
