Credit crunch hurts small businesses

"My husband and I started this business with the thought it's going to be here 30 years from now," she said.
But after seven years, business is down 40% in 2008. Wax prices more than doubled during the last six months. Because of the credit crisis, stores are making smaller orders.
"People are holding things close to the vest," she said. "They're not putting out money like they were."
Concern as the neighboring Rock Falls Community Development Corporation celebrates a state grant during its business luncheon.
"People are talking," said Sandy Henrekin, RFCDC director. "People are worried, and people are concerned."
There are more worries now for small businesses that need credit and loans. more
