Cephalon to Pay $425 Million to Settle Illegal Marketing Charges

Actiq, sold as a lozenge on a stick, has been implicated in over 120 fatalities, including the deaths of two children who thought the drug was candy. Actiq contains fentanyl, a highly addictive opiate that is 80 times more potent than morphine. Fentanyl is considered a Class II substance by the Drug Enforcement Administration, meaning it is associated with a high potential for abuse and a risk for fatal overdose. While Actiq was only approved for treating pain in cancer patients, a November 2006 Wall Street Journal investigation found that 80-percent of patients taking Actiq did not have cancer.

Once a drug has been approved by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), doctors are free to prescribe it as they see fit. However, drug companies are prohibited from advertising a drug's off-label uses. more

Resolved Question: Can someone interpret 2 of my dreams?

I had a strange dream that I went to the past with my boyfriend we went to this big theater and and we started watching the movie the dark knight but some how it kept getting switched to the animated series. And we both thought it was odd , when we left I ended up being completely naked. And I was sticky for some reason . So i told him to go to a grocery store and buy me a bottle of water so I could wash myself. I was a little nervous because I knew the water was going to be very cold. Then The dream changed and I was back in the past wit my bfs best friend sumo. We were trying to get home back to our time. But for some reason I wanted to go to this store in china town that I went to the present time i was from. The store was full of fresh vegetables, and then I asked one of the workers where are the candy and they told me down stairs. I went down the stairs and It looked like a children's library full of tons of books. And I met this one asian girl there and I told her I was looking for the candy choco babies and she said they didn't sell that there but she knew they were delicious. As I walked through the store I saw a rabbit that was the size of a Labrador dog. And he was for sale. But he looked mean and disturbed so we through it some gum and candy. Then as I walked further I saw cages full of animals . Mostly rabbits but their faces were out of this world. Their faces kind of looked like human faces mixed with the rabbit. And they all looked scary. When I left the store I realized that I don't know where sumo was . SO I was a bit upset and I started looking for him. Then I woke up. What can this dream mean? Second Dream This by far was one of my most strangest dreams. I just woke up not too long ago so i can only remember bits and pieces. It all started when I went to the botanica ( its usually a latin store to get ingredients for doing santeria). I actually went there so I could get my dream interpreted. I ran into my grandmothers best friend. Who I havnt seen in a while and she was surprised to see me. She asked me how my grandmother was doing and i told her that she living in the bronx now with my aunt. She took a good look at me and told me that I am in love, and that its so sweet ( which is true) . And then some how we started talking about how creepy my apartments was (which is true ). Then out of nowhere she looked at me and told me to be careful that something very bad is going to befall on me quite soon. She also said beware of the number 9. I asked her why and she said she couldn't tell me , so i asked her how could i prevent it. And she said i dont know go get a cleansing to ward off bad spirits. Then I told her to read my hands, so she looked at them and told me she couldnt do it now because she was going to talk ot the owner of the store. So I gave her my number. But for some reason i kept writing a single digit wrong. Instead of writing a 3 I kept writing a 6. And then she started talking to me about why she thinks my apartment is haunted. She told me how long ago the part of nyc that i live in had this big mansion. ( while she was telling me I some how in my mind went there). There was this big house and a fat white man and a slave girl . She was flirting with a guy and then she saw the man drag a dead pig. She cried and said nooo that pig is pregnant, you killed it. But then somehow I took over that girls body. So now i was her. And I snatched the pig back from the man and tore up the pigs stomach. When I opened it I saw 5 white babys with blue eyes, dead . I started to touch each fetus. And From left to right they started turning into a gummy consistency. Then I the slave girl was taken away to get beaten to death. Some how I ended up going back to the botanica saying thank you to the lady and i left to my home and told my mother about what happened. She told me that she did not like that lady and considered her a witch who only speaks of bad fortune. And thats all i can remember.  more

Houstonians could end up paying more than $6 billion

Two weeks without power also cut into sales for Kegg's Candy in Meyerland, said manager Stephanie Biffle. Worse still, it put the store behind schedule.

"We were really hoping to ramp up production for the holidays, getting Halloween candies made and ordering boxes and ribbons and other dry goods that we couldn't get shipments of," Biffle said, "so our production is delayed by two weeks."

Employees are working extra hours to make up for the lost time, she said.

Large companies also took hits because of the power failure.

Houston's U.S. Physical Therapy told investors last week that 40 of its 365 physical therapy clinics had been affected by Hurricane Ike, reducing patient visits and costing $180,000 in lost revenue.

"This is not reimbursable stuff for us," said Larry McAfee, chief financial officer, who attributed most of the impact to extended power outages. more
