Halifax Regional Police have arrested a 32-year-old Halifax woman in the attempted robbery of a candy store last week.

Officers arrested the suspect Friday afternoon in front of their Gottingen Street station. She was driving past the station, and officers who�d been given a description of her car and its licence plate number saw it and stopped her at 3:25 p.m.

The crime took place Thursday at the Daily Sweets store at 2869 Oxford St. at 9:44 p.m. A knife-wielding woman told the clerk she intended to rob her, but the clerk thought it was a joke and asked her to repeat herself. That�s when another customer entered the store, and the robber fled down Edinburgh Street and got into a red car.

The suspect was expected to appear in Halifax provincial court Monday to face robbery and weapons charges. more
